Bio-way Farm - Ware Shoals, SC

We are alive and well. We don't have any phone service and limited wifi so I know this is all very over due. Then I got overwhelmed with how behind I was and didn't want to post at all!

------

We made it to our first farm late Monday night (oct 20) we were tired and had just finished dinner not too long before. But when we got there Chris (the one who ran the farm) JV (the one who owned the property and Chris' step-mom) and three other single workers were all waiting for us to start dinner.   It was a little awkward but short as we were so tired.

The next morning we were ready for breakfast at 7 and on our way to the main house when Chris told us it wouldn't be ready til 8:30. So we took a walk to see some of the farm.

It was beautiful! We were excited to start the day learn how they ran their farm and for such a great place to stay.

We had breakfast together (a slightly odd modge podge of breakfast foods) and JV talked to us about a new website, a play set that needed to come down and a chicken coup that she wanted. Perfect! All things we were good at and would enjoy. Then Chris came in and told us he would like is to work picking peas. At first it was fun. The girls helped and we learned a lot about peas! But after two straight days we were starting to wonder about this. Then we weeded for three more days!

We tried to get used to it but by the third day we knew this wasn't for us. The meals were so odd and had very little protein. Rob about lost it when she made frozen pizza and piled it high with mushrooms, onions, squash and peppers lol:) I offered to cook but that was turned down. One night I was so desperate for red meat that we drove everywhere looking for a place to eat. We found an amazing little college town. Perfect! Wrong! They had a gas station hotdog booth and a pizza shop. Out of desperation we ate pizza.  I almost cried lol:)

The dog was mean and growled everytime he saw the girls. There were fire ants EVERYWHERE. It bothered Robert to no end how lazy the man was and by Sunday we were ready to get out of there! Oh and let's not forget Nick. The resident philosopher who could spend a whole day painting two chairs and still have energy to tell everyone everything and why his views were so  much better.

We packed up Monday morning and headed to savannah, Ga. We had no idea what we would do after that.

Some things we did like:

Grace baptist church: we found a great church about 20 minutes away. About the size of our church, friendly and the nursery worker Ms. Sue and I became good friends:)

The lake was beautiful!

The had a great swing that the girls loved.

It was the first place we really saw the stars.

The happy cow creamery: a family run creamery that was neat to visit and just five minutes up the road. It was almost raw so it was good enough to hold us over.

This little overlook with a bench. I drew this months happy mail print from that spot.

On the road again with slightly dampened  spirits.
