Don’t read this if you are hungry and don’t have plans for dinner

While we were at the lake Kathleen offered to watch the kids so we could go on a date (before you judge me for leaving her with five kids…they were watching a movie and while we were up there I did cook most meals for them – ok that makes me feel better=)  So we headed to Friendsville so go to Waterfront Café, but alas it didn’t open until the 11th (and the friendly cup next door didn’t make it=/)  So we saw a little gourmet pizza grille on the way and decided to head back there…closed.  So we went to Canoe…closed!  We finally ended up at a BBQ place right there on the main road.  It was pretty good, not Mission BBQ mind you, but pretty tasty.

Our poor attempt at a self portrait.  We would have taken more but Robert felt a little awkward as we were the only ones there and all the workers were looking at us=)

On the way home we stopped at the store to get a dessert to take home for everyone.  While Robert was browsing the ice cream section I saw the following.  Are you kidding?!?  People can’t shmear their own bagels? Crazy what you see when you go back into a regular store=)

  2. That's what I was thinking, Mom. She can't take a self portrait? What is the deal with that? And Robert being self conscious taking pictures? Doesn't everyone go around taking pictures of themselves. I was wondering what they were thinking when Melissa started taking pictures of their plate of food. And what about taking pictures of bagels in the grocery store? Weirdos!

    1. Yes when Robert saw me taking pictures of the food in the store he wrapped that trip up really fast. Or maybe it was because I wanted to stop and save some poor lost souls who were debating on real butter or I can't believe it's not butter. When he saw me getting my soapbox out of my purse he started dragging me out=)

    2. It's good you didn't marry Rich. He would have thought it was so funny and suggested more things for you to do. You would have never left the store, you would have been thrown out!

  3. Oh my goodness, this Bagelfuls look so disgusting, I can't believe people would buy those, let alone eat them. I want to say to people "why are you having such a hard time believing it's not butter! It's clearly NOT butter." I hadn't thought of carrying my soapbox in my purse! I'm always trying to find someone to fill up those huge bags. The thought of a Melissa and Rich combo is very interesting! I think there's a reason opposites attract! And on a final note, if someone offered to watch our kids so we could go on a date, I wouldn't care what they had to go through ... I'd jump on it and feel bad about it later :)

    1. I'm sick and hungry and too tired to make anything so when I clicked over to reply all I could think about was that BBQ. Man.

  5. Rich- Melissa, they just don't understand how visionary we are! I would have told the woman some crazy story about how I used to eat that butter substitute, but then I grew hair on the bottom of my feet or something. If you need some more ideas to apall anyone, I am your guy! One day they will have as much fun as we do.

    1. LOL... The best stories come from making others feel embarrassed to be with you=)

  6. I'm glad you kept looking for a place and not saying something like "Let's just go home! All I want is to go out on a date and I can't even do that!" Just saying. I would think the restaurant people would be extra special nice to you because maybe you are a food critic or something taking pictures for the local newspaper. So, then Andrea and Mom could read it out loud and laugh at the mountain people. I always kind of felt sorry for all the people Mom and Andrea were laughing at in the newspaper - I'm a kind hearted soul like that.
