A chicken escaped the pen the other day and caught a snake snack.
Using her new birthday gifts to dig for worms to feed the chickens.
In training…
(if I put a video of my training in fast motion it would look like real time!)
We tried using dead nettle in our smoothies tonight. There is an abundance in the yard and I wanted to try it before they are all gone. The first round was a little to “earthy” for me and Robert but the girls loved it. We added some peanut butter to ours and it tasted so much better. Going to try again tomorrow with raspberries.

What are you training for? I don't remember any nettle in our yard ... it grows everywhere here and the kids are constantly getting stung by it. The siding is so awesome!!
ReplyDeleteTravis and I are going to run a 5k...it's going very slowly = well for me at least=) It isn't stinging nettle it is called dead nettle (because it doesn't sting) It grows all over the yard...you know those purple flowers? I saw it on a blog a few weeks ago - never knew it was edible til then
ReplyDeleteI love the siding! The nettle confused me as well. What are the benefits? because I get handfuls of this picked for me everyday.
ReplyDeleteDead-nettle's reported to be highly nutritious, abundant in iron, vitamins, and fiber. The oil in the seeds is high in antioxidants. And the bruised leaves can be applied to external cuts and wounds to stop bleeding and aid in healing. http://eatingmymoccasinsnow.blogspot.com/2009/02/dead-nettle-lamium-purpureum.html
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure if the nettle was called "dead nettle" or it the nettle was dead you used in your smoothies. Are you really training with Travis?
ReplyDeleteAs always I am the last to comment. Your shoes are scarry looking. Last night at visitation I looked down at Robert's feet and gasped. Bella looks like a real little country girl.
ReplyDeleteNo I'm not training with Travis. He said he would run a 5k with me so I'm training...pretty sure a 5k (3 miles) would be a warm up for him=)So he is just waiting until I'm ready...looking like next spring! Mom, I try not to cringe when she picks up a worm!
ReplyDeleteOh, picking up worms are fine. I am always catching them and giving them to Bethany to play with. Once we were doing it when Matthew was on Skype. After he cringed he said that he could see that he really needed to get home.
ReplyDeleteMom! To play with?!
ReplyDeleteI must take after Daddy. I don't like worms.
ReplyDeleteI know I asked for it - but no comments about me taking after Daddy!
ReplyDeleteGood thing you put in that second comment because that could have lead to quite a few responses =)
