It's all fun and games...

Yesterday started great! Up at six, chocks packed, hose & electric unhooked and on the road by seven. A quick stop at walmart to replace a tail light bulb and we would get a good couple of hours before stopping for breakfast and roadside baptist church.

Except it wasn't a bulb that was out. And after five hours of working on it ourselves it found is like this...

Robert a little insane

And me laying in the gravel crying. We called mike at that point. He helped for about three hours and we thought we had it fixed. He told us to stop by his house for food and he followed us. When we got there we realized the problem wasn't fixed. It had even mike stumped at this point. They went in and ate, I sat in the car with sleeping girls and cried some more. After about an hour break Robert told me to wait at christals with the girls and he and mike went back to The back property to work on it more. At that point I had lost all hope. Saying things like "dreams don't come true no matter how hard you work. They just beat you down until you accept something lesser." Then pulled the comforter over my head and let the girls zone out to a movie. Thirty minutes later they were back saying it was fixed. I didn't believe them. But after a short ice cream break and much encouragement from mike, we were back on the road

(During this time both Robert and I thought "I'm not sure why they are friends with us but so glad they are!")

So almost twelve hours later we finally made it out of our own neighborhood!

By 10 that night we crawled into our own beds at a rest stop on the other side of Richmond.

We are also very thankful for God's protection while we drive.  Last night a car in traffic went from the left lane, cut behind us into the ramp, sped up and pulled in front of us then slammed on the brakes and just stopped. There wasn't enough  time or room for Robert to miss that idiot so we aren't sure how it happened but Robert was able to swerve around him (no small task with a 5th wheel!)  It left us both shaking from the adrenaline rush. Don't take prayer before driving lightly!

So while traveling leaves our living room like this (that's Cecelia sneaking grandpas crackers) it is nice to feel home when we sleep no matter where we are.

We ran into one more little problem with the placement of the gas tank. But traveling with everything you own has it's perks and Robert had it fixed in a few minutes.

Now we're back on the road and hoping to arrive at our destination tonight. Between kids and the rv we've found that travel time is doubled. :p

We are going to a farm, bio-way farm, outside of Greenville, sc. I'll do a whole post once we get there. Sorry for taking so long Lesli :)

  2. I couldn't see the video. Hope you are there now. Never saw the finished truck. Praying that your dreams come true and that God is in the middle of them all.

  3. Wow what a day! Glad you made it on the road. We pulled in to the cabin last night and I was so sad - it's very empty back there :-( Y'all will be missed but we are excited for you!
