We headed for MD on Friday morning at 5 am. Sounds crazy but it helped being able to drive while it was cool and all the girls fell back asleep within 15 minutes. In typical West fashion we turned a 10 hour trip into a 16 hour trip. But at every stop we made we took our time and let the girls play and we relaxed which made it a lot easier on me and my car sickness. About 4 hours into the trip Robert saw a sign that said “Holiday Traffic – Stay Alert.” He scoffed and said, “What Holiday?” and I gasped as I realized we were planning on waltzing into a campground hoping they had open spots on the busiest RV weekend of the year! I called the campground we wanted to go to and sure enough they were booked. We called mom (of course!) and she called around looking for an empty spot. After 10 campgrounds she finally found one that had 4 walk ins that were first come first serve. We crossed our fingers and kept driving hoping there would be one open when we got there.
Luckily they had one spot for us but the hook ups were on the wrong side of the RV so we had to borrow so extra cords from our neighbors. The campground was a little more than what we wanted to pay but this was our backyard view…
The girls “accidentally” fell in while feeding the ducks and had a grand time splashing around until we found out there were snapping turtles!
Then we headed right across from our site to the neatest playground…

Three Cheers for Mom!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the last pic of you all together-what a memory maker :)
I think I did a pretty good job of finding a top notch place. I think I could start a business of finding campgrounds for people, I'm sure I could make some money with that.
