Meet the newest members of the flock

These babies are completely home grown=)  We are so excited to have done things completely naturally with the chicks.

    1. There are a good bit. The chickens can't get to them but hopefully we will get some before the birds=)

  2. You won't have those berries for long if the chickens are near! I am still confused about your chicks. Did those hens lay AND hatch those three chicks?

    1. Yes these three were laid and hatched by those two hens. Then we have another hen who is mothering two chicks from the co-op and then seven chicks that we are raising. See that's not confusing=)

    2. So you are the biggest hen of them all, huh?

  3. You'll need to protect those berries from the birds if you want a full harvest. Just speaking from experience. It happens overnight. They are also predicted to ripen about two weeks sooner than normal this year because of the warm spring. Be ready and check everyday. As soon as they look close to being close to ready cover them.

  4. Yes, you will need to protect those berries, Melissa. Chickens like berries very much and they will eat them. Don't expect to get any berries unless you protect your berries. They will eat them right off the bush. Just expect that and protect your berries.

  6. I am sure she will protect her berries. If she wants a full harvest, she will need to protect them.
